Officials say east Jackson mobile home fire was accidental

EAST JACKSON — Fire officials have determined a Sunday night mobile home fire in east Jackson was accidental.

East Jackson mobile home fireFirefighters responded around 9:45 p.m. Sunday to the blaze at a manufactured home in Parkway Village in the 1200 block of Whitehall Street.

The Jackson Fire Department was able to get the flames out quickly, according to officials. No injuries were reported.

Fire Marshal Lamar Childress says they have ruled out arson.

Inspector Tina Curtis says it appears to have been an accidental electrical fire that started on the back porch. Curtis says about half the mobile home sustained smoke and heat damage.

Capt. David Thompson said the woman who lives in the home was inside when the back porch caught on fire.

The total damaged is estimated at around $15,000, according to a city fire report.
