Forrest County supervisors to help with airport repairs

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) – The Forrest County Board of Supervisors has voted to help the Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional Airport with emergency repairs necessitated by flood damage incurred in early March.

The Hattiesburg American reports board members agreed at Monday’s meeting to pitch in on $195,220 worth of repairs to the airport, with half that amount to be paid by Jones County.

The funds will be used for repairs on a berm that was eroded after the airport received about 12 inches of rain during the flooding.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is expected to reimburse about 85 percent of the cost.
