Middle school steps up students’ style with bow ties, pearls
JACKSON, Tenn. — North Parkway Middle School will soon have a brand new look to begin its new school year this fall.
A new era of professionalism will soon grace the halls as boys will be decked out in bow ties and girls adorned with pearls every Wednesday and Friday.
Principal Tiffany Taylor says she wants to school’s new “professional” atmosphere to make students and teachers moving to a new school feel like they’re at home.
“It even changes their behavior,” Taylor said. “It changes the way they walk. It changes the way they talk because they feel prideful of how they look when they dress professionally.”
The school will hold an “extreme makeover” day on Saturday, which will include work on landscaping along with painting classrooms and doors.
School officials are also accepting donations of both bow ties and pearls for the students.
