Sheriff: Last suspect captured in Dyer Co. manhunt

DYER COUNTY, Tenn. — Deputies captured the third and final suspect Wednesday morning in a multi-agency manhunt that began Tuesday evening after an alleged car theft.

Screen Shot 2016-05-17 at 9.37.01 PMDyer County Sheriff Jeff Box confirmed deputies found the man hiding in an attic around 8:50 a.m. in nearby Fowlkes. The search began along Sorrell Chapel Road near Highway 412.

A man and woman had previously been taken into custody.

Dyer County deputies said they caught up with the trio Tuesday afternoon in a stolen car from a Millington car dealer. They eventually led officers on a pursuit across the county.

“The officers lost contact with the vehicle, but the THP chopper picked it back up,” Sheriff Box said Tuesday evening. “That’s when they came up Sorrell Chapel Road and ended up crashing in the wooded area.”

The woman in the vehicle immediately surrendered but the two men ditched the car and took off running into the woods. One was arrested a few hours later after he called police himself.
