Case against Jackson man charged with burglary headed to grand jury

JACKSON, Tenn. — A Jackson man accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from two local stores returned to court Thursday.

“We’re waiving the case at this time to the grand jury,” Attorney Mark Donahoe said.

andrewkim2Andrew Kim, 31, waived his right to a preliminary hearing in Jackson City Court. He faces burglary, theft and vandalism counts.

“The investigators and the DA’s office has agreed to give me all the information in the case as far as the reports and the statements were given,” Donahoe said.

Donahoe represents Kim. “There was no need to go forward with a hearing at this point since they’d agreed to give me all the information,” Donahoe said.

Kim is accused of breaking into Outdoors Inc. on Vann Drive in January. He’s also charged with stealing from Coffman’s Home Furnishings in April, accused of taking thousands of dollars worth of merchandise.

Donahoe said they have a lot of work to do and constitutional issues to see about. “We’ll take the information we were given today,” Donahoe said. “Our investigators will begin deciphering that, talking to witnesses.”

Kim is out of jail on a $50,000 bond. If the grand jury indicts Kim, he is scheduled to appear Aug. 8 in Madison County Circuit Court.
