Program seeks to help senior citizens live their dreams

JACKSON, Tenn. — A West Tennessee woman’s dream decades in the making came true Monday.

Elmcroft Winslow dreamShirley Winslow was an avid horseback rider when she was younger, and until Monday had wanted nothing more than to ride again.

Her wish was granted at Hooker Farms on Monday afternoon by Elmcroft Senior Living’s “Second Wind Dreams” program, where she was able to saddle up for the first time in many years.

“Alzheimer’s is a terrible thing, but to see someone who’s really enjoying the day — she’ll remember this for a time, but the moment is the moment, and it’s really nice,” said Mike Winslow, Shirley’s son.

Two other Elmcroft residents also had their wishes granted and took part in Monday’s activities.
