Humboldt alderman appears on order of protection violation

JACKSON, Tenn. — Humboldt City Alderman Don Graves appears in court Tuesday morning for the first time after Madison County deputies arrested him for reportedly violating an order of protection.

DON GRAVES COURTThe order of protection was filed in January. Graves was arrested Friday after deputies say he violated that order.

“The allegation in the warrant is a message was sent over the Internet through a Facebook account, so we have a lot of work to do between now and then to see how that happened,” Graves’ attorney Mark Donahoe said.

Donahoe said the allegations came from online messages, something he said they’ll be looking at to see if those messages really came from Graves.

“We’ll have a lot of things we’ll have to look at, whether or not his account was hacked by someone else, whether or not it was accessed by him or by someone else. We know some of his other accounts have been accessed by somebody else,” Donahoe said.

Graves is set to reappear in court July 26.

He took office as Humboldt Ward 3 alderman in January 2014.
