Hundreds attend Senior Expo, raising awareness facing elderly
JACKSON, Tenn.-Hundreds attend Thursday’s dedication to Jackson’s greatest generation.
As Older Americans Month comes to an end, senior citizens gathered at the Carl Perkins Civic Center for this year’s Senior Expo, hosted by the Southwest Area Agency on Aging and Disability, raising awareness about the biggest issues facing the elderly.
To many, the fellowship is what matters most.
“The most important thing is the fellowship for this population and they love to come and they love to dance and we try to provide that venue for them,” said Dorothy Turner Monttheue, representing SWAAAD.
The event is hosted in the Jackson area every other year. More than 300 attended Thursday’s celebration.
