Mount Carmel assistant chief suspended amid investigation
MOUNT CARMEL, Tenn. (AP) – An investigation is underway surrounding the assistant police chief of a Kingsport-area town.
Mount Carmel Police Chief Jeff Jackson told news outlets on Tuesday that his assistant chief Phillip Robinette has been suspended with pay for the past two weeks.
Jackson confirmed for the Times-News that Robinette is under investigation for possible “illegal or unethical conduct” related to a criminal investigation launched by Robinette at a senior center last year.
Jackson declined to discuss details of the accusations against Robinette, but he confirmed that Officer David Dean resigned last week for reasons related to the internal investigation.
