Madison Co. budget committee meets, attempts to finalize new budget

JACKSON, Tenn.-The Madison County budget committee met again Friday to try and finalize more of the county’s new budget.

The committee focused on finalizing the county’s general fund, focusing on the sheriff’s department’s budget that should be getting a significant increase.

Committee members said they are still focused on keeping the budget increase to four percent.

“A four-percent increase, I’m talking about expenditure-to-expenditure would be a pretty healthy increase,” said Doug Stephenson, budget committee chairman.

The county’s budget for the new fiscal year still needs to be passed twice before July 1.
The budget committee will meet again next Wednesday at 1:30 p.m..
