Company recalls over 3 million sippy cups due to mold risk
JACKSON, Tenn. — A baby company has recalled more than three million spill-proof sippy cups due to the risk of mold developing in a one-piece, removable valve.
Mayborn USA is recalling about 3.1 million “Tommee Tippee Sippee” cups due to reports of mold developing in the removable white valve that remains wet/moist. Only the cups with the removable white valve are included in this recall.
Mayborn USA have received 3,066 reports of mold in the removable valve of the Sippee cups, including 68 reports of children experiencing diarrhea, vomiting or other symptoms associated with mold ingestion.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the products were sold from December 2014 through May 2016 at several major retailers including CVS, BuyBuy Baby, Giant, Kohl’s, Marshalls, Meijer, Sam’s Club, Ross Stores, Target, Bealls Outlet, Walgreens, Wal-Mart and other mass merchandise stores nationwide. The products were also sold online at Amazon.com, Babyhaven.com and Diapers.com.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission urges consumers to stop using the recalled Sippee cups and contact Mayborn to received a free replacement cup.
