Tree falls, damages house in Bemis
BEMIS, Tenn.-Strong winds and heavy rains created a hassle for the evening commute Wednesday across much of West Tennessee,
but an even bigger one for a south Jackson family.
On Colorado Street, in the Bemis community, a large tree fell on a home. The family said they were standing on their front porch watching the rain and wind from the front side of their house when a large tree fell in the backyard, slamming into the house, causing quite a lot of noise and damage.
“I went in, my water heater was laying in the floor. Water was shooting out of the pipes, out of the wall, demolished the front end of my washing machine. There’s flooding damage all inside the house, “said Carla Mansfield, whose house was damaged by the fallen tree.
The strong storms also caused minor flash flooding in local creeks, streams and roadways.
