Workout Wednesday-June 1

JACKSON, Tenn — Do you find yourself often wanting to workout but not knowing what to do, or not wanting to devote an hour to the gym? In this week’s Workout Wednesday segment, I have a 20-minute, full-body workout for you, that you can do at home or in the gym.

“You need to stay dedicated, you need to workout your whole life,” said Tom Spellings, fitness instructor. ”

The workouts never over, it may be intense, more intense at some points, but physical activity should never cease in your life.”

Ok then there’s that group who want to workout, but have no guidance on what should be done, or how long they should workout. Our trainer, has a tip for that group. A full body, weight free work out.

“It’s targeting each muscle group in your body, you’re doing some arms, some chest, your core and some legs,” said Spellings.

But what about people who haven’t worked out in a long time and don’t want to jump right back in?

Spellings said, “This is a great way to get started, to do stuff that’s body weight because you have an idea of how your muscles are going to feel, pushing and pulling weight around.”

So all you have to do is this circuit for 30 second intervals with 15 second breaks. First, free weight body squats, which happen to be really good for your legs. Then transition from that, into some push ups for those arms and back area. Next we move to bicycles crunches that will work your abs really good and leave a nice burn afterward. From that to mountain climbers, which practically works out your entire body when done at a fast pace. You then go back to some more abs with a little plank action for as long as you can. Then last but not least you finish up with some dips, for that strong upper body workout.

“Now for anyone who doesn’t have an hour or however long to spare, to come into the gym and get a good workout in, this circuit I just demonstrated, gets you a great workout in under 20 minutes,” Spellings said.
