McKenzie re-opens farmers market on town square
McKENZIE, Tenn. — McKenzie’s farmers market is back in business after years of absence from its downtown square.
The city opened the doors to the new market Friday evening.
City officials say they renovated a building that had been recommended to be knocked down. Instead, they decided to repurpose it and bring the farmers market back to downtown.
“They’d been asking for it. We had another location that we’d thought about doing, but when the building came up, we just decided this is where we’d go, so we’re excited about it,” said Jennifer Waldrup with McKenzie Economic Development.
City officials say they spent about $35,000 on the renovations.
McKenzie’s farmers market will be open every Friday evening starting at 5 p.m. and on Saturdays until noon.
