Local church holds community parade

JACKSON, Tenn — The Highland Park Church paraded through the neighborhood Saturday trying to engage their community.

The parade ends a week long celebration which included a free basketball clinic, a movie night and live music.

Highland Park’s pastor said they are trying to reconnect to the community.

“The community is getting lost. Everybody drives in the garage, closes the door and goes in the house,” Highland Park Pastor, Paul Riddle explained. “We’re trying to get people to reconnect to the community around them and the church is going to be a central part of that in this community.”

The church also went out and offered free repairs to houses in the community which included free house painting and roof patching.
