Tupelo man charged in brother’s death
TUPELO, Miss. (AP) – Police say an alcohol-fueled fight early Saturday morning ended with a man shooting and killing his brother.
The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports 26-year-old Amos McGinister was formally charged with murder Monday afternoon in the killing of 29-year-old Carl King, of Tupelo. Justice Court Judge Sadie Holland set bond at $100,000.
Tupelo Police detective Nathan Sheffield said several people had gathered at McGinister’s home Friday night when an altercation escalated.
Sheffield says officers were called to the shooting at 1 a.m. Saturday. He says officers found King with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.
