Madison Co. investigator appears in court on sex charges
HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — For just a few minutes, Johnny Woolfolk, an investigator for the Madison County Public Defender’s Office, appeared in court Wednesday after being arrested on sex charges involving two underage females. Wednesday morning, he pleaded not guilty.
“Mr. Woolfork is charged with aggravated sexual battery. Because of age this will be a B felony, and unlawful sexual contact,” Judge Mark Agee said.
The alleged victims are 10 and 14 years old, according to Medina police. Police believe the incident in question happened in August 2015 in Medina. Woolfork’s next hearing is set for 1 p.m. August 3.
“We’ll give Mr. Woolfork his court reminder,” Agee said. “Now he knows the condition of his bond includes absolutely no contact.”
Although Wednesday’s hearing was brief, Woolfork’s attorney, Daniel Taylor, said he will be ready to defend his client come August.
Woolfork has worked in the Madison County Public Defender’s Office since 1997. According to his attorney, he is on paid leave. He is free on a $20,000 bond as he awaits his next hearing.
