2 local groups join for Veterans Day events fundraiser
JACKSON, Tenn. — Taking advantage of the warm weather, two West Tennessee groups teamed up Friday to benefit local veterans.
For the fourth year in a row, the West Tennessee Veterans Committee partnered with Woodmen Life to host a barbecue lunch, serving anyone driving by and looking for a good meal.
Each year, they raise between $1,500 and $2,500.
“We are doing rib-eye sandwiches and barbecue bologna in conjunction with raising funds for the Veterans Park that will be held later this year at the Jackson Generals ballpark,” said Brad Jones, recruiting sales manager for Woodmen Life.
That money will go toward a Veterans Day program at North Side High School, followed by a Veterans Day parade, this November.
