Students still learning this summer with Smart Academy

JACKSON, Tenn. — Although school is out for the summer, some students are still in session at Issac Lane Elementary.

Friday, students got to showcase their work to parents and family members.

For the past two weeks, Issac Lane has hosted a Smart Academy for first to third graders. Around 30 students were selected to be apart of the academy through an application process.

Principal Janet Gore explained how important a program like this can be.

“We all know without the ability to read we’re limited in what we can do, and I think our students deserve nothing but the best. So reading and any type of learning activities is very key,” Gore said.

Students who did not get a chance to participate will have an opportunity to be a part of the next session starting July 11 through July 15.
