‘Night of Heart’ raises awareness of heart health

JACKSON, Tenn. — With a lot of heart and hoping to raise money and awareness about heart health, West Tennessee Heart and Vascular hosted the seventh annual “Night of Heart” on Saturday at the Ballpark at Jackson.

During the event, organizers offered free blood pressure screenings, CPR lessons and handed out information about heart disease.

Specialists said heart disease is something that can be prevented.

“Most of the heart disease we see are preventable, being able to control it, knowing what your cholesterol is, knowing what to eat, knowing how to exercise,” said Emily Garner, clinical manager with West Tennessee Heart and Vascular.

The event also included testimonials from those who suffer from heart disease, and the night ended with heart-themed fireworks show.
