Convicted felon arrested after stolen guns found in home
JACKSON, Tenn. — Convicted felon, Thaddeus Edward Shutes, appeared in Jackson City Court, Monday morning, where he was charged with a count of possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.
According to court papers, on Thursday, June 16, investigators with the Jackson Police Department’s Gang Unit served a search warrant at his home in the 400-block of Old Humboldt Road. The search warrant was for stolen firearms and ammunition.
Just before 6:30 p.m., officers raided the house and reported finding 17 firearms, many of which were stolen out of Crockett County.
According to the affidavit, the guns were found in the garage of the home, as well as inside a shed on the property and in a car that was parked in the driveway.
Court records show Shutes has three felony convictions from criminal simulation in 2005 and a Schedule II drug (cocaine) conviction in 2008. All were prosecuted in Madison County.
As of Monday evening, Shutes remained in custody at the Madison County Jail in lieu of $40,000 bond.
