According to court papers, a woman told police that she had an argument with her boyfriend, Benjamin Kyle Woods, who then refused to let her leave the apartment.

Police responded to the Roosevelt Parkway apartment around 10 p.m. Sunday where the woman told officers Woods had broken her phone so she couldn’t call for help and struck her repeatedly with a jewelry box, a belt and a bath brush, according to court documents.

She told police that Woods then made her leave the apartment in his van and that he made her leave her 5-year-old son alone at the residence. He also threatened to kill her if she tried to run away, according to court papers.

Police say the woman’s face was swollen and bleeding and that they found her broken phone in the bedroom along with a broken jewelry box with blood on it.

They also saw blood on the bedroom wall and in the bathroom, according to court documents.

Woods is charged with kidnapping, aggravated domestic assault, false imprisonment, child neglect, vandalism, and interference with emergency calls.

Woods is being held in lieu of a $40,000 bond.
