Man reportedly found passed out behind wheel of stolen truck

JACKSON, Tenn. — Police say they recovered a stolen pickup truck after finding the accused thief passed out behind the wheel.

A woman reported her Chevy Silverado pickup truck stolen March 4 from Lambuth Street.

When police responded Friday to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Clubhouse Drive, they reportedly found Johnnie Johnson passed out behind the steering wheel of the stolen truck, according to court documents.

Police say the truck had been spray painted and that the owner’s tags had been replaced with tags belonging to Johnson’s father.

Johnson is free on a $25,000 bond. He is set to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. June 30.
