Workout Wednesday: Outdoor basketball

JACKSON, Tenn — For this weeks Workout Wednesday, we venture outside of the gym and the living room floor. We head outside for a good cardio workout mixed with some squatting and jumping. Basketball!

Outdoor basketball is a good sport to burn calories, increase your endurance and shed a few pounds. It’s also something that can be done with the entire family, a good bonding tool as well.

Student, Benjamin Herron said he enjoys the gym, but it’s nothing better than getting outdoors for a workout.

“Going to a gym is great don’t get me wrong, but I think there’s something more inherently more social and more dynamic and more engaging,” Herron said.  “When you go outside and play a sport, or do something active with your friends, that you really don’t get just by sort of getting on a loop. You know running on a treadmill or even lifting weights.”
