Madison Co. Sheriff’s Office wins Battle of the Badges
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Battle of the Badges trophy has a new home for the next year, as the Madison County Sheriff’s Office is awarded the coveted prize, Thursday.
The two week challenge pitted first responders from across Jackson-Madison County against one another in a blood drive hosted by Lifeline Blood Services in north Jackson. Members of each department were encouraged to give and citizens who came in to donate could gift their blood donation to their department of choice.
Lt. Cleven Davis with the sheriff’s department was on hand to accept the trophy. He gave credit to the residents the department serves. “I always like to say that the citizens are the police and the police are the citizens because without them we cannot be successful in doing our job,” he said. “They demonstrated it again with this by coming out and saving lives as part of this great event.”
Lifeline said it received more than 400 units during the two-week challenge. During a normal two week stretch, officials say they receive about 150 units.
