NAACP showcase men who are great cooks, while promoting healthy eating

JACKSON, Tenn. — Dinner was free for those who took advantage of the NAACP’s unique event Thursday evening.

Dubbed “Men Who Are Great Cooks,” the organization showcased the culinary skills of local men, while stressing healthy eating.  The four men who participated created everything from salads to chocolate cake.  Held at the Home Baptist Church, participates were able to receive information and samplings of the food as well as take part in demonstrations.

The event was part of the NAACP’s Project H.E.L.P., which stands for Healthy Eating, Lifestyles and Physical Activity.  Activities of Project H.E.L.P. are aimed at educating participants about risk factors that impact chronic disease, like poor nutrition, limited physical activity, poverty and access to care.  The hope is to teach new ways to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
