New town hall opens in Huntingdon

HUNTINGDON, Tenn — The doors of the new city hall opened to the public Sunday afternoon.

After 3 years community members of Carroll county get to say hello to their town’s newest addition.

Screen Shot 2016-06-26 at 5.08.46 PMTown leaders realized that additional space was needed at the previous city hall, so a building that was once vacant became the new home for many departments in Huntingdon.

Mayor of Huntingdon, Dale Kelley said “we concluded that if we could put together the revenue streams that was necessary to renovate this historic facility for city hall that it would be put to good use.”

Mayor Kelley said the project was around $700,000, but it was something the community needed.

He went on to say “we probably saved the taxpayers well over $100,000 by being able to utilize our employees and the sheriff’s department at the same time as well as putting all our other grants together.”

Most community members are just glad the vision of Huntingdon town leaders finally came to life.

Community member, Brooke Hodges said “I’m so excited to have a nice workplace that houses everything that we need”.

Mayor Kelley says that his favorite room in the new building is of course the Mayor’s office.
