Arrest in Sunday robbery of Dollar General store, AR-15 recovered
JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson police announced the arrest of their suspect in the Sunday night robbery of the Dollar General store on Kenworth Boulevard, Tuesday.
Matthew Blake Hope, 30, of Madison County, appeared in Jackson City Court, Tuesday morning. He was formally charged with a count of aggravated robbery and two counts of a felon in possession of a firearm. He is being held at the Madison County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bond.
According to police, officers were called to the Dollar General store around 6:45 p.m., Sunday. The clerk told officers a masked man came into the store with an AR-15 rifle and demanded money. Hope is accused of firing multiple rounds inside the store before leaving with cash. No one inside the store was injured.
Officers developed Hope, a convicted felon, as a suspect and learned he had two guns. Police say they recovered the two weapons a few hours after the robbery.
Hope was arrested around 6 p.m., Monday at his home on Autumnwood Cove in Madison County.
