Longtime Jackson policeman retires after 3-decade career

JACKSON, Tenn. — One of Jackson’s finest is hanging up his badge this week.

Deputy Chief Willis retiresDeputy Chief Patrick Willis is retiring from the Jackson Police Department after 32 years of service with the department.

People who have worked with Willis throughout his three decades congratulated him Wednesday afternoon at his retirement party, sharing stories and accomplishments.

“Thirty-two years of serving this community with some of the best professionals in law enforcement, and to hear all the accolades, we accomplished a lot and I’m just blessed that God turned a simple job into a career,” Willis said.

Chief Willis’ last day with the department is Thursday.

He says he plans on spending more time on his motorcycle during retirement as well as more time with his family and church.
