Officials investigate shooting that left 1 dead, 1 injured
RICHLAND, Miss. (AP) – Police are investigating a shooting outside a Jackson-area business that left one person dead and another injured.
Richland Police Department Chief Russel James tells news outlets that an unidentified man shot and wounded a man Tuesday night near Southeastern Freight Trucking Company. James says he believes one of the men involved was an employee there.
James says the shooter fired several shots into the victim’s car, injuring the man. The victim escaped and drove to the police department for help. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police say the shooter was later found dead from a gunshot wound to the head.
Officials are investigating to determine if Tuesday’s shooting is linked to a fatal shooting Monday at Old Dominion Freight Line in Jacksonville, Florida.
Authorities haven’t released additional details.
