Generals fans paint the ballpark purple in support for Alzheimer’s

JACKSON, Tenn.-Hundreds attending the Jackson Generals game traded in their green and white for purple Thursday evening.

Everyone who came out decked out in purple was able to get into Thursday night’s game against the Mississippi Braves for free.
The goal was to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s, a mentally-crippling disease affecting more than 5 million Americans.

“Paint the Park Purple” is really just to raise the awareness that, ‘hey, you’re not alone in this fight against Alzheimer’s’. We’re here to come alongside and encourage along the way and bring you resources for the journey,” said Bryson McQuiston with “Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

There is no cure for Alzheimer’s, but medication and other management options can help. According to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, 1 in every 9 people over the age of 65 has the disease.
