Dyer residents sport red, white & blue at 32nd annual Dyer Station parade
DYER, Tenn. — The Independence Day celebrations got an early start Monday in Dyer for their annual parade.
Families lined the streets for the 32nd annual Dyer Station Fourth of July Celebration.
“Everybody will be here,” celebration committee member Beckie Maxwell said. “Everybody in town will be here for this big event.”
Kids and those young at heart enjoyed the parade sporting their best red, white and blue.
“The parade is so much fun,” Maxwell said. “We have lots of people that come in and fix their own floats, and we just really enjoy this.”
For many parade goers coming together as a community is the best way to celebrate America’s Independence Day.
“It’s a wonderful community,” parade goer Timothy Turner said. “We all come together for stuff like this all the time. [It] gives the kids something to do. It’s just a friendly community. If you’ve never been here before, you should come.”
“It’s what small town is about, and the people here support it and come together,” Dyer resident Joel Reynolds said. “Just basically one big happy family, if you will. And that’s the good thing about living in a small town.”
Immediately following the parade, everyone gathered at the city park for arts and crafts. The big fireworks display is planned to start at 9 p.m. at David Robinson Park. Everyone is encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and enjoy the show.
