Bodies of Bledsoe County couple found; TBI investigating

PIKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Authorities are investigating the slayings of a Bledsoe County couple.

News outlets report the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Bledsoe County Sheriff’s Office detectives are searching for clues after 41-year-old James Songer and 49-year-old Robbin Martin were both found dead Tuesday evening.

Police say a passer-by noticed Songer’s body in the yard of the couple’s mobile home. Deputies found Martin dead inside the home.

Judicial District Attorney General Mike Taylor says TBI agents believe robbery was the motive for the homicides.

It’s unclear how the victims died and investigators have not determined whether Songer or Martin knew their killer. Autopsy results are pending.
