Voters question candidates at NAACP forum
JACKSON, Tenn — Candidates took questions from potential voters, Tuesday night as part of the NAACP Candidates Forum.
Of the 21 candidates running for the Tennessee’s 8th Congressional District seat, only 4 attended: Republican candidate, David Bault and Independent candidates Adrian Montague, Mark Rawles and Shelia Godwin.
However, all candidates running for two area Tennessee House seats were present.
Voters said hearing the candidates in person helped open their eyes to their choices.
“It actually opened up my mind because I’ve seen the picture of and on the some of the candidates, and until I’d seen them speak, it was hard to really form an opinion of actually how they felt or what they thought,” forum attendee, Earl Hester said.
Candidates for the Madison County Register of Deeds, Property Assessor, County Commission and School Board took questions from voters as well.
Early voting for the general and primary elections begins across the state this Friday, July 15.
