Shots fired at Gulfport police during standoff
GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) – Gulfport police are on the scene of a standoff with an armed suspect.
Sgt. Damon McDaniel tells local news outlets that a suspect has fired shots during a standoff with police, but no one has been injured.
McDaniel says police received a call at 4:22 a.m. Wednesday about shots fired.
He says police are calling the suspect a “distraught individual.”
McDaniel says nearby residents have been evacuated from their homes as a safety precaution.
He says police believe only one person is inside the home.
