Humboldt receives third downtown enhancement grant from the state
HUMBOLDT, Tenn.-Humboldt is getting a facelift, thanks to a nearly $725,000 grant from the state.
A check presentation was held at the mayor’s office Thursday afternoon, marking the third downtown enhancement grant the city has received.
Mayor Marvin Sikes said he expects the improvements to bring positive changes to Humboldt.
“So it’s going to really mean a lot, especially in the future to have all the things done here to bring down commerce and have visitors and tourism come to our city,” said Mayor Sikes.
The mayor told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News that grant money will be used for installing new sidewalks, street lighting and other landscaping projects along 14th Avenue, just south of Main Street.
