Train, semi-truck collide in Chattanooga; 3 injured

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) – Chattanooga police say three people have been injured in a crash between a train and a semi-truck that caused eight cars to derail and a “significant” diesel fuel spill.

Police said in a statement that officers and firefighters were at the scene Thursday morning and expected long closures at the intersections of Wauhatchie Pike-Cummings Road and Wauhatchie Pike-Cummings Highway.

Officials say the truck driver and two train engineers were injured during the collision and all were taken to a local hospital. The conditions weren’t immediately available.
