Emily Prince remembered at World Horse Show
MILAN, Tenn– The Milan Saddle Club hosted the world horse show, drawing people from all over the country to enjoy the races.
In 2003, they started the show in their own backyard after the Illinois races ended.
A year later saddle club member Beverly Prince lost her daughter, Emily, in a 4-wheeler accident.
Soon after Emily passed something happened that has kept her memory alive.
“The next year several of our horse show friends got together and created the Emily Prince memorial barrel race,” Prince said.
Beverly went on to explain that Emily’s favorite thing to do was compete in the barrel races.
“Her horses name was A Minus and she loved horses she would ride everyday and always look forward to this, always,” Prince told WBBJ.
A long time horse show attendee and family friend, Tami Denton, said Beverly and her husband, David, are the backbone that supports people who have been in tough situations.
“If somebody’s in need they know where they can go to get it and that’s with the prince family,” Denton said.
For over 10 years people from all over the United States have been coming to the world horse race to enjoy time with their family and friends, and with lovely horses. Although this is a happy time for horse lovers and their families Beverly always reflects on the memory of her daughter.
“Until you experience the lost of a child no one can relate to it at all and it’s just the times like this that we all get together we hug and we cry and we celebrate,” Prince said.
Organizers said the horse show is expected to last throughout Saturday night and could possibly last until Sunday morning.
