Officers search woods for alleged gunmen in Milan

MILAN, Tenn. — For about two hours Monday night, Milan police officers and Gibson County deputies searched for three suspected gunmen who fled into a wooded area near West Van Hook and Stinson Streets.

Police lights graphicAccording to Milan police, they received reports around 9 p.m. Monday of gunfire in four different locations. At one of those sites near the intersection of Cantrell and Anderson streets, Gibson County deputies spotted three men. Deputies chased them on foot for several blocks until they disappeared into the wooded area. The only description of the suspects released by officers was that they were black men.

Officers quickly set up a perimeter with a south border of Kefauver Drive.

K-9 units as well as the helicopter from the Jackson Police Department were brought in to assist.

Just after 11 p.m., officers suspended their search.

No details have been released about what led to the initial gunfire.
