Man charged in stabbing at west Jackson motel

JACKSON, Tenn. — Police arrested a man accused in a stabbing outside a motel in west Jackson.

claytonSeth Clayton, 32, appeared Monday in Jackson City Court on an aggravated assault charge. He is accused of stabbing a man around 1 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Old Hickory Inn on the Highway 45 Bypass.

Police said Clayton approached the victim about giving him some change and allegedly tried to lure him behind some buildings. When the man would not go, officers said the victim told them Clayton starting yelling racial slurs and stabbed him.

Two people at the motel saw the stabbing, according to court documents.

Clayton is being held at the Madison County Jail in lieu of a $12,000 bond. He is scheduled to return to court at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 4.
