Police: Man escapes Clay Co jail, found at girlfriend’s home
STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) – Mississippi authorities say a man charged with escaping from the Clay County jail got out again, but was found at his girlfriend’s house.
Sheriff Eddie Scott says 30-year-old Depriest Gray of Starkville broke through a section of the jail ceiling about 2 a.m. Saturday.
WTVA-TV reports that Gray had been transferred from state prison to Clay County after being indicted on a charge accusing him of breaking out of the jail Oct. 14.
He was serving time on convictions of burglary and armed robbery in Oktibbeha County.
Starkville police tell WCBI-TV they started checking with his connections after getting word that he’d broken out.
Police say Gray bolted from the home as officers approached but was quickly caught.
