Former University School of Jackson quarterback William “Easton” Underwood, 19, appeared Tuesday in Jackson City Court on aggravated burglary and theft counts.

“The caller interrupted the burglary and the suspects fled the scene,” Jackson City Court Judge Blake Anderson said.

Underwood and former Trinity Christian Academy basketball player Jacob Morford, 18, are accused of taking thousands in cash, keys, and video game systems back in June from a home on Arbor Ridge Cove.

“Five separate, single fingerprints belonging to Underwood were collected from the crime scene,” Anderson said. Officers said cell phone records put Morford at or near the home at the time of the

break-in.

USJ Head of School Stuart Hirstein declined to comment. TCA Basketball Coach Ken Northcut also declined to comment.

Underwood, who according to the USJ website was nominated for the 2015 all district and West Tennessee all-star teams, is expected to walk on at Mississippi State this fall. Underwood declined to comment after court Tuesday.

Underwood and Morford are both currently free on bond. The prosecutor said he is not sure if there will be more arrests or charges in this case.
