7th grader receives special visit from Tennessee lawmaker
JACKSON, Tenn.-A local home schooler met up with a West Tennessee lawmaker Friday for a special giveaway.
Jonathon King is a 7th grader from Beech Bluff. He first met State Senator Ed Jackson when Jackson was campaigning back in 2014.
Jonathon told his mom she should vote for Jackson after meeting him.
Two years later, Jonathon needed a Tennessee Blue Book for one of his classes.
Instead of mailing the copy, Senator Jackson met with Jonathon personally to give him the book.
“We went to go vote and then we saw him there so then I said, ‘we need
to go vote for him so we did that,” said Jonathon King.
“And then when she called me and said he would like a Blue Book, I said
‘It would be my honor’, because I did remember them in that conversation
so I am just tickled to death because he is in 7th grade and this is
when they need to learn about history,” said Senator Jackson.
Senator Jackson also invited King up to Nashville next year to shadow him during the legislative session.
