Kids of all ages made their way to the Ballpark at Jackson to unwind after hitting the books all week, and enjoy a night of fun.

“We wanted everybody to come together after their first week of school to have some fun and fellowship and just celebrate a successful week,” JMCSS Communications Director Ginger Carver said.

The school system throws the bash to allow people to have the chance to hang out with people outside their classroom, and enjoy the last few nights of summer.

The bash also kicks off the “Pack the Bus” program with the Jackson Generals, working with the school system to provide school supplies for children in need in the Jackson-Madison County area.

“Anything that you would go get for your student, so might pick up an extra pack of notebook paper or pencils or tablets, just anything that students might use at school even things like hand sanitizer,” Carver said.

You can donate the school supplies at the ballpark when they are open. When you donate, the generals are giving you one free ticket to a game.

“It’s just a great way to get our students involved not only in education but also the great things that are going on in our community,” Carver said.

The “Pack the Bus” program will be accepting donations until August 15.
