Neighbors react to TBI agent killed

Scene ArrestJACKSON, Tenn — Kids played in the background as the TBI investigates the shooting of one of their own.

“Both of them just looked like regular guys. I didn’t know that either of them were agents,” said  neighbor, Candice Washington.

Washington just moved to the Jackson area two months ago and said she heard the shots and her instincts told her to hit the ground.

“I heard about 4 shots and I could hear them hitting the glass. So I laid on the ground and when I got up looked out the window and I saw a black Navigator parked directly in front of my house,” Washington said,”and I saw a black male inside of the Navigator looked like he had been shot. . His eyes rolled back and his head was limp.”

What she saw was TBI Agent De’Greaun Frazier who was one of several agents along Brianfield Cove conducting an undercover drug buy this afternoon.

“To me it looked like someone was in the car with him, that shot him, because I was looking out the window the entire time I was laying on the ground and I didn’t see anyone run past.”

“The back door on the passenger side was ajar, so whoever was in that car and shot him must have gotten out and ran the opposite direction.”

Police searched the area from the ground and from the air finally catching the subject less that 45 minutes later, a short distance away.

Neighbors said police found him inside an apartment complex. His name has not been released by officers.

“It’s a very high crime area.” another neighbor who did not wish to be identified, said.

“We have a lot of kids here. My grand kids here and they have nowhere to play. You got a police camera right there but it’s still going on. Something just ain’t right.”
