Draft ordinance restricts sale, use of fireworks in Danville

DANVILLE, Ky. (AP) – A draft ordinance in Danville seeks to restrict the sale and use of fireworks inside city limits.

The Advocate Messenger reports the draft ordinance, presented by Danville City Manager Ron Scott last week, would limit when fireworks could be sold and prohibit the sale and use of display fireworks.

The ordinance would also fine individual violators up to $1,000 and a corporation up to $2,000 “or double the amount of the violator’s gain.”

The ordinance was created after city commissioners requested an ordinance that would reduce noise abuse and the use of fireworks at inappropriate times.

City commissioners say the draft seems like a good place to start. They asked for the ordinance to be brought up again at a later date.
