Local Red Cross volunteers prepare for Louisiana flood relief

JACKSON, Tenn. — Local volunteers are packing their bags as they prepare to make their way to Louisiana to help with flood relief.

american-red-cross6.jpgSince Thursday, Baton Rouge and other surrounding cities have seen some of the worst flooding in Bayou State history.

Organizers of the local relief trip tell us among the things they will need are supplies, support and time.

“It’s too soon to really get in and look at the homes,” said Heather Carbajal, disaster program manager for the American Red Cross of Mid-West Tennessee. “The water levels are still rising. They’re still expecting more rain, so really we’re focusing on making sure people are safe.”
