Lions too much for Chargers
MARTIN, Tenn — Thursday night marked the first time the Westview Chargers would take the field without coach Don Coady, in what seems to feel like forever for some. Trey Cantrell took over the program and lets just say, he will remember his first game.
The Dresden Lions came to town led by quarterback Dresser Winn. The Lions who lost one game before the final four last season, are looking to get over the hump this year.
Early first, Winn hands it off to Dylan Yates who sprints up the middle for a Lion touchdown. Two point conversion failed, Dresden led 6-0.
Next Lions possession, Winn fakes a punt and launches a prayer up in the sky, and his teammate Austin Thomas answers the calling coming down with the catch for a first down. Later in the drive the two would connect again, this time for a touchdown, two point attempt was good. Lions led, 14-0.
For the Chargers they mounted a solid drive and running back Reid Chandler capped things off with a one yard touchdown run.
But that would be all the Chargers could do, as they fall big to the Lions, 40-6.
