Police Chief Weiser, Sheriff Mehr recognized as hometown heroes
JACKSON, Tenn.-The Modern Woodmen Fraternal financial organization honored two local heroes, Thursday night.
Jackson police Chief Julian Wiser and Madison County Sheriff John Mehr were honored as hometown heroes.
The ceremony at Logan’s Roadhouse was a surprise for both men who thought they were just meeting for dinner.
Both men said they will share the award with their departments.
“I appreciate them recognizing me, but we got a lot of men and women that work hard everyday at the police department, so I will accept this on their behalf,” said Chief Julian Weiser of the Jackson Police Dept.
“It means a lot but really it’s the department. We are proud of them. We are proud of both departments and the working relationships we have together,” said Madison County Sheriff John Mehr.
The organizer of the event planned the surprise with the men’s spouses.
They were presented with plaques, hats pins and will have a donation made to a charity of their choice.
