‘Teacher Trot’ held at Northeast Middle School

JACKSON, Tenn.-School has only been in session for a few weeks, but teachers and educators still have enough energy to show off some school spirit.

At Northeast Middle School an event known as the “Teacher Trot’ was held, Tuesday evening. More than a dozen runners along with several walkers laced up their shoes to trek the one-mile cross country course.

Organizers said the “trot” was designed to be fun and inspirational.

“Cross country has a camaraderie that’s unmatched by any other sport in my opinion and I wanted the teachers to be able to come out and experience that camaraderie with each other and just be able to support middle school sports,” said Dr. Chris Nye, the boys and girls cross country coach at Northeast Middle School.

Logan Smith, the 7th grade social studies teacher at Northeast was first to cross the finish line. Organizers said this is the first year for the event, which they hope to hold again in the future.
